The Challenge
The existing house featured dated areas, including a sunroom with limited garden views, an underused garage, and a large storeroom. The brief was to maximise space, light, and practicality while keeping costs manageable and preserving original features such as windows and internal doors.
Our Approach
Rather than extending across the full rear, we opened up the original sunroom into the lounge, creating a bright, spacious living area with improved garden views. The garage was converted into a versatile office/guest room and compact downstairs shower/WC, which also allowed the hallway to open up and lead naturally into the new open-plan kitchen-diner.
The large storeroom was transformed into a practical, generous utility room. Upstairs, we extended over the original single-storey extension to create a beautiful master bedroom with ensuite, maximising space while maintaining a harmonious roofline.
The Result
The home now balances modern convenience with original character. The lounge and kitchen-diner are light-filled and open, the utility and office spaces are highly functional, and the master suite provides a luxurious retreat.
